My Cursive Letters

My cursive letters,
Printed legibly in
Sharp, glossy black,
Their waves, humps, and loops.
Caterpillars,
Inching across the page.

I am foreign in my own classroom,
As I peek to my left and right.
Informal writing,
Like letters snipped from a magazine,

And glued on,
That jagged, Unreliable,
Deformative,
Style of Writing.

I grin to myself
Because I know the secret;
How to make a word look beautiful,
and how to dress a page in
Satin.
